RE: Revision of Categorical Eligibility in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Dear Secretary Perdue,
As Secretary of the California Health and Human Services Agency I write in opposition to the proposed changes to the broad based categorical eligibility option in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). I strongly believe that food security is key to an individual’s ability to gain adequate employment, achieve and retain self-sufficiency, and to enhance the health and well-being of children and families.
